This speaker can be used for in a stereo pairing or with a surround setup in a larger room as side or rear loudspeakers. This speaker has been designed for use in-ceiling, but it will work equally well if mounted in a wall. The compact size of this speaker and the easy-to-use compass positioning system means positioning this speaker is very straightforward. The two discreet switches allow you to adjust the speaker to get the most from this speakers, even in rooms that traditionally are difficult with sound. The tweeter driver is mounted slightly of centre to the woofer, and their sounds blends gracefully together giving a richly detailed and crisp soundstage.

The polypropylene cone is more resilient to humidity than the regular Dali cone material. Therefore, the Phantom E-60 can be used in many areas, such as covered outdoor areas and bathrooms. The Dali E-60 speaker can also be combined with the optional, Dali backbox, protecting the speaker from moisture, dust and dirt. The Backbox maintains a consistent sound quality (symmetrical loading), even if the acoustic environment behind the walls/ceiling is not even.

The backbox eliminates rear sound radiation, reducing any acoustic leakage from room to room and and from floor to floor. The Dali backbox is not included with this Phantom E-60 speaker. The dogleg mounting system for this speaker makes the installation process to be easy. To fit this speaker insert the E-60 in the prepared mounting hole, and from the front of the speaker tighten the screws to swing out the brackets and tighten them against the back of the mounting surface. If the mounting surface is very thick reversing the dogleg expands the mounting grip to 70mm.

Dali install speakers are designed to have a wide dispersion, which helps to deliver the music or film score to the larges possible part of the room. The dispersion technology is needed for use with install speakers, since they are always mounted flush against either a wall or a ceiling. Working with off-axis optimisation ensures the listener will have a large sweet spot, but also that the sound received when away from the sweet spot is still of high quality. The Phantom E-60 also has two audio settings that are used to adjust the performance of the speaker, The Focus/Distribute toggle enables the tweeter module to disperse the high frequencies much better.
